The author has added valuable insights into the passage of learning from Guru to disciple with his chapters on Sriyukteswar’s relationship to his master, Lahiri Mahasay, and, in turn, his relationship to his well-known disciple, Yogananda.

Sriyukteswar published a few copies of the first half of the book in his lifetime. Swami Satyananda found the manuscript for the last nine chapters under Sriyukteswar’s pillow on his deathbed.
